Red Sox should send Dice-K to the minors

This season will go a long way in deciding if Daisuke Matsuzaka fits in the Boston Red Sox
future plans. For many in Red Sox nation, this year will ultimately
prove if his costly signing was a success or failure and so far it is
not looking good. Many fans are already suggesting a move be made and I
completely agree.

Last year Matsuzaka continued to
range from good to bad on any night. Throughout his MLB career, Dice-K
has been at his worst by trying to be too perfect and paint the
corners. Instead of frustrating hitters, he gets frustrated by the
umpires and loses his ability to record outs.

Matsuzaka,
who increased his 2011 ERA to 12.86 on Monday, seems to have developed
a new way to be utterly ineffective. He has left too many pitches over
the heart of the plate for hitters.

Red Sox Nation reaction: It’s April, so don’t

I first saw a Boston Red Sox game on a small
black and white porch TV. Not long after, I took my first trip to Fenway
Park and I was awed by the sights and sounds. Like generations before
me, I was captured by the Red Sox. I know the pain that can come from a
devastating Red Sox loss, but my experience as a fan tells me that this
is not one of those times. Don’t overreact in April.
Every year, I hoped that this would be “the
year” for the Red Sox, but I never really thought it could happen. 2004
changed all that. Going into the 2007 playoffs, I didn’t hope they
would win. I believed and knew they would win the World Series. I
believe in the 2011 team.
Don’t call the season done before the 99th
Fenway Park home opener on April 8, 2011. The home opener is one of the
best days to be in Boston and I want to enjoy it.
Don’t tell me the 2011 Red Sox will suffer a
similar fate as the 1996 Red Sox, who started off 0-5 and finished
third. Of course it’s possible, but I don’t see it as likely.
