Red Sox game has been postponed

The Boston Red Sox game against the New Yankees scheduled for Sunday, April 22 has been postponed due to rain and no make up date has been announced. The Yankees beat the Red Sox in the first two games of the series and will leave town with a sweep.

Boston will head to Minnesota, having lost five straight after winning the first three games of a four-game series versus the Tampa Bay Rays to begin the home stand. During the losing streak, the Red Sox fell to last place in the American League East and they now are 4.5 games behind the Yankees with a 4-10 record.

Pedroia ‘The Laser Show’ is above Cano

This weekend the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees meet once again to renew their longstanding rivalry. During these battles for dominance, like most Red Sox fans, I can’t help comparing my hometown team to those guys from Bronx, N.Y. I am sure the Yankees fans do the same.
Lately I have been thinking about the second basemen. Would you rather have Robinson Cano or Dustin Pedroia? Although New York may have an advantage over Boston at some positions, this is not one of them.
Cano broke in with the Yankees and finished second in the AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2005. He was selected to his first All-Star game and improved in almost every statistical category in 2006. Cano’s next two seasons were good, but nothing spectacular compared to the start of his career.
Pedroia played his first full MLB season in 2007. He topped Cano’s rookie campaign and won the AL Rookie of the Year Award. Pedroia improved in his sophomore season and was rewarded with his first of three consecutive All-Star game selections. He won a Silver Slugger Award and was named the 2008 AL MVP.
In 2009, Pedroia had an All-Star season, while Cano was returning to his rookie form. Last season was Cano’s year to become a New York star. He was selected to his second All-Star team, won his first Silver Slugger Award and finished third in the 2010 AL MVP voting.

Red Sox top New York Yankees in their first meeting of the spring

Boston
topped last year’s AL Wild Card winning New York Yankees in their first meeting
of the spring. Oscar Tejeda drove in three runs to help to the Red Sox beat the
Yankees, 5-3. Tejeda lined a two-run triple down the right field line in the
seventh inning and knocked a run-scoring single up the middle in the ninth.
Jose Iglesias, Drew Sutton and Juan Carlos Linares all went 2-for-3 for the Red
Sox. The 26-year-old outfielder Linares,
who was signed by the Red Sox in July, 2010, is batting .667 in his first Spring
camp. Clay Buchholz pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and
striking out two, and Matt Albers struck out three over two perfect innings of
relief for Boston. Former Red Sox pitcher Bartolo Colon was sharp, recording
three shutout innings, but Boone Logan (0-1) was touched up for three runs,
retiring just two batters to suffer the loss for New York. Alex Rodriguez had two of the
Yankees seven hits.
